Internal Comfort

Natural and mechanical ventilation

The Brewery uses a mixture of natural and mechanical ventilation, with assistance of the chimney. The brewery is a working factory and will emit a lot of heat. Therefore it requires a significant amount of ventilation and will have predominantly cooling strategies to maintain a comfortable temperature for employees and visitors. When natural ventilation is not sufficient, a mechanical strategy is carried out. Cross ventilation is achieved through the low lying fans and vents for the inlet of air. Air travels through the building by convection currents and out at the top of the chimney due to the stack effect ventilation. Mechanical ventilation is used to ventilate the factory as machinery emits an unnatural amount of heat. The water storage tank supplies the radiant slabs with hot or cold water to assist with heating or cooling the building. The low energy radiant system is more comfortable than blowing cool/warm, dry air.
